M7 task
For this task I decided to do task number 3. Which is the strengths exercise. I was suppose to take the test to find my top three strengths and use them in my every day life within the week. My top three strengths are 1. Appreciation, 2. Gratitude, 3. Self-control. I thought long and hard of three ways I could use each of things and to be honest, it was actually a little hard to think of all three. For appreciation, I thought I could start telling people in my life how much I appreciate them and everything that they have done for me. And the second thing was just simply appreciating how my life is right now and everything happening in it. For the first example I used this a lot. I went up to my mom actually and told her that I appreciate her and she actually started crying, it hurt my heart more than anything to actually see that she didn’t feel appreciated. It was a really big eye-opener. And for the second part I just had to sit alone and write in my journal everything in my life and how it has impacted me in every way, I realized just how much I love my life and everything that has happened to me was because of my past and for that I am thankful. For both appreciation and gratitude I had giving thanks more. Instead of not saying thank you for things, someone holding the door for me, someone giving me food, or spending time with someone. I was constantly telling people thank you all week for every little thing that they were doing for me. Another thing for gratitude I did was showing people thanks instead of just saying it. Like giving someone a hug for what they have done for me. And lastly, self-control. The first thing with this issue was the small little habits I have developed throughout my life and the biggest one is biting my nails, it’s so gross right? I do it without even realizing that I’m doing it but this week I start just thinking about it more and just basically slapping my hands if I start to do it. Another one with self-control is with my boyfriend. I am always over at his house with him if I’m not at school or work and sometimes that can be pretty tempting but he and I have made a pack to wait to do anything till marriage which is more amazing than you think! And the last thing I did for this was saving my money. I have an awful habit of spending so much money on food and stuff that I don’t even need. Now I have mad a savings account and I’m putting back so much money in there to save up. This was a great task to do, it really opened my eyes on things in my life and I recommend this to anyone.
Hello Stormey. This was a really great reflection on your task. Stuff like this really makes us realize that little things make a big difference. I though it was funny because I have a bad habit of biting my nails, and I should really work on breaking that habit as well. Good blog!
ReplyDeleteHey Stormey! This was a really good read. I love how you reflected to each one of your strenghts, and it was interestig to read how you are going to break some of the habits you mentioned. Good job!
ReplyDeleteSometimes doing things for a week can teach us different things about ourselves that we didn't even realize, and really open our eyes on things we need to work on. It can also impact those around us on a positive way. I think you chose the right task to do.
ReplyDeleteI can tell that you really put those strengths to good use this week. For me being more appreciative would probably be hard for me because I have a hard time letting other people helping me with things. I'm glad you found ways to use your strengths and positively impact someone else's day.
