M3 Task

I actually thought it was a little difficult to think of things to put on my poster board. There are some things I am willing to share with the world but there are some things I am not so that somewhat limited me and what I put on this poster. I realized from doing this project just how much I hide from people. How I really keep to myself with most of my life because a lot of people can't even wrap their mind on what I have been through.

Personality

Who are you? What makes you, well, you? People should ask themselves these questions everyday. They should want to know who they are and how they became who they are. Personality is the characteristic ways that people differ from one another. Wether you are a person who loves being in big groups and being around people or someone who really enjoys to be alone and away from everyone. That’s what makes you, you. I decided to do the Personality Assesment for this weeks blog. I took a personality test from the website http://similarminds.com/eysenck.html . There weren’t many questions but there were enough for the website to actually get my personality somewhat right. My extroversion results were very low which means that I keep to myself and would like to remain alone and not be around a lot of people for a long period of time. My neuroticism was pretty mutual and it said that I get very anxious and worry a lot. Which I do because I just worry about the future and what is going ...

Developmental Psychology

In this task I chose to do option 1. In the Ted Talk with Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, she is talking about how childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime. Through her study, this changed her whole career and her life. In the video she talks about how when a child goes through sexual, physical, or emotional abuse are more likely to have the diseases that some people may get in their life. Someone who does not go through these things are just fine throughout their lives while the people who are exposed to this kind of trauma do end up with way more diseases. How strange is that to happen? As a child I have personally ben through all three abuses and even more. I have been though a parent dying, a parent emotionally abusing me, a step-parent sexually abusing me, and a family member physically abusing me. Though I do not show signs of these things having an impact on me, later in the future they may have a major impact on my health and my life. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v...

Sensation and Perception What is sensation? What is perception? We have five senses: touch, taste, sight, sound, and feel. With all these senses they help us to send signals to our brain to what we are doing. Making sense of the stimuli is called perception. During this process you can identify the different senses. When people lose or are born without one of their senses all of their other senses are heightened. But when a young girl does not have the sense of hearing she is able to get very high-tech hearing aids to help her hear again so she will not be deaf anymore. Although it does not cure her deafness, it does help her to hear and be a normal child again. It is crazy to think that such a tiny machine on some ones’ ear can just make them hear again. Those signals that come from the hearing aid go to our brain so signal that we are hearing something. Even for someone that is blind, they can do surgery or anything to help them to see again. For someone that is color bling...

The Brain

The brain is the most complex matter in the whole world. Every ones' brain works differently and functions differently but some things that they all have in common are: weighs 3 pounds, 5% water, has over 100 billion neurons and when someone is born their brain is the same size as an adult brain but contains the most brain cells in your life at this time. Every time you make a new memory, new brain connections are created and when we learn something new the structure of our brain changes. How amazing is that? To know that throughout our lives and even throughout the day our brain is constantly changing. The brain basically has two parts to it: the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. Each hemisphere contains different qualities that makes us, us. While the left side has logic, language, science, math and analytic thoughts. Our right side has holistic thoughts, creativity, art, music, and intuition. Have you ever heard of someone saying that left handed people are more creativ...
