About my Interest in Psychology

One branch of psychology that really interest me is Abnormal Psychology. This study interest me because I have many family members and friends that deal with a lot of the topics that they help people with and I think it would be really amazing to really understand how these people are feeling and why they are feeling that way. This area of psychology mainly focus on eating disorders, depression, phobias, schizophrenia, and antisocial personality disorder. A doctorates degree is required for this psychology field and that takes about four to seven years of school. To become an Abnormal Psychologist you have to have passion for discovery, learning and listening to be successful with your clients and to provide clinical services. One job a person could have with this branch is being a clinical social worker and working in a clinical setting. Some famous people in this area of psychology are Pythagoras and she was one of the first people to see the brain as a structure involved in human intellect as well as mental disorders. Another person is Leslie Greenburg who used emotion-focused therapy with the clients.

    That is definitely a very interesting branch of psychology to go into, it makes it even more interesting when your family can relate to some of these issues as well. You will be able to get a more in depth look at these problems considering you have known them for a very long time. The time for school sounds very long but worth it considering you are doing such a good thing.

    That area of psychology does sound very interesting and is one that I found to be really important in everyday life. Having such a close connection to this form of psychology will definitely help you in the future because you'll be able to connect with people that suffer from these problems due to having family members that endure the struggles of these problems.     Abnormal psychology is definitely a very interesting branch. Being able to help people who have disorders such as anorexia, depression and schizophrenia sounds like a very interesting and rewarding job. I have first hand experience in my family dealing with things like depression and anxiety and it would be awesome to be able to help others with the same problems.

    This area of psychology also interests me. I also have experience in my family with depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. It is good that you would be able to connect firsthand with these disorders and be able to help and understand people with these things. Good job on this blog!

    Nice post Stormey! I really enjoyed reading it and abnormal psychology is definitely the most interesting branch of psychology but it seems to be the most difficult to study because of how many disorders are involved with it. overall I really enjoyed what you wrote about for abnormal psychology!

    Abnormal Psychology also interested me, what a thing we have in common! I bet you are such a great and wonderful friend/family member to those people who have disorders or something hard to understand. Loved reading about your interest!

M4 Task

I chose to do the second option for this post. The one where you say a list to someone and then you as them to write down the words that they heard to see what they remembered. With this option I used my mother to help me with this. I read the first list out loud to her and she wrote down the words that she remembered. Then I did the same with the second list that was a little longer. She has an awful memory so her lists were a bit short but I actually asked her if she wrote down or remembered me saying some words that actually weren't on the list and she said yes. Why did she do this? This is based off of a "false memory". Why do you thing our brains actually do this to us? Learning

What is learning? Learning is all based on life experiences and somewhat how you grew up. Some people think that they can only learn a certain way (visual, hands-on) but that is actually a myth. Learning can happen at any place at any time. Even from me writing this blog post, I am learning what to write by the things that I am studying for this. With the experiments with animals and to get them to do things a certain way they will put them in certain situations to make them learn. When a mouse is put into a maze and their is a piece of cheese at the end of it, the mouse will eventually find the end but the next time they do the maze they will of had it memorized so that they can get the piece of cheese faster.
